Photos and Computer Graphic Mixed

I love when photos of people/women are mixed with computer graphics. They can put quite a beautiful twist to a simple color. These two pictures are two of my favorites. One has all different type of colors and one is just a black and white scale. They both have the extreme of something that can not be there through an actual photograph.
The black and white one has you going all over the picture even though the girl herself is in the corner of the picture not in the center. But the black waves and spider web effect has you guessing her feeling even though her faces seems to give it also.

The colors of this one are very bright and jump out at you. They have you getting lost in the curves of the pieces and yet they still high light the women in the picture. The colors do not make her look fake but have her standing out

Created image

I love pictures that are created using a symbol, a shape, or just blobs. It shows how created one person could be to put the colors, and shapes together to create a picture. It has some skill behind it. The flow of the circles and color have this horse look like it is in actual movement. the closer the circles are together and the smaller they are the more pronounced something is. The farther apart the circles and colors are the more open space is shown and how it is starting to move apart from the actual horse.

With the dragonfly (you really can't see it in this picture) there are a bunch of tiny dots that create the image. There are times when the figure is broken up (like its wings). The colors of the blue dots bring it out more then the white ones on the black background. It just gets your eyes much better. There are also tiny shapes of white that are created on the blue parts. They are that of a crescent moon and starts.

I find these pieces a wonder and greatly appreciate them because it probably took them a good bit of time to design and follow through and create something out of the circles and tiny dots.

Twisted Ink

Twisted Ink Magazine

Twisted Ink magazine is a very different magazine. Twisted Ink magazine is actually a step off of the Twisted Ink LTD interdisciplinary creative agency. It started as a fine art/print studio that was founded by John Cann. As the studio started to evolve it started to become a commercial design and print company. This started the full forward push of service advertsing, design, and multimedia company. It was first release date was in 2000 in Norfolk, VA. The magazine is published and sent out whenever they can. The magazine is bi-monthly. This magazine is dedicated to art and culture. They are very supportive of tattoos.
It is so created, beautiful, intense and colorful. It has a lot of different media. There are the normal media of photography, fine arts, and computer media. The one issue that I became very fond of was the number 5 issue. I feel like this issue was very well planned out. The cover page of the magazine is simple but yet different with the photography and the typefaces. There were not many different advertisements to it but they put them on their own separate pages unlike other magazines that put an advertisement the article itself. The articles had their own theme going on with them.
The cover page is something in its own. The photo is of a woman with tattoos that is very innocent look to her. The three different lines of type are all three different type faces. Not one of them is all the same. One is very edgy and the second one is in a flowing cursive and the very last one is blocked lettered. There is not much going on with the cover page but the photo is all that is needed n the cover to make the view want to open the page.
The pages that are the full articles themselves, they are all different. Not one of them has the same background, picture placement, and coloration. The first major article on pages 4-5 is about a model that has tattoos and how she tries to get people to look at people with tattoos with a good eye not a judging eye. But the set up of the page has different angles of straight thick lines. All of them are going in different directions and angles. Even the word blocks are going in different direction. The photograph itself is unique. The mirror under her is giving the illusion that there is two of her. Her eyes on both of “her” attract you to look deeper. With the smaller picture of her there is the computer editing to make the picture look like it is fading into the background. The background is simple white but has blotches of gray involved.
The advertisement pages are quite different compared to their articles. They tend to be boring. They just have the pieces of the logo of the company that is advertising. They are just like the company cards or posters were just copied or pasted on the page. Nothing more those pieces were added. There are boarders around the pieces and maybe a dark image/design.

This Magazine has some relevance content to design students. The magazine has different articles that focus on different parts of arts. The magazine is not only about tattoos. The one article has a clip about an artist that work is graffiti that is legal. They had a short clip about him and how they are supportive of his work. The main focus of his part of the article is his work. They have a whole three pages of his work. Even though tattooing is not really considered graphic design in book but in a way it is like graphic design. You are creating a picture of art for people to see and communicate with others. Sometimes tattoos are not smartly placed on one’s body. There are two articles that talk about the life of the tattoo designers and how they became to where they are now. It can be the same as any designer, in graphic design or not.
This magazine compared to other design magazines is not quite the same but compared to other tattoo magazines it is similar. The other magazines seem intend to viewers that are focused on graphic design only. This magazine seems to go out of the normal realm of graphic design. There are times when it steps in same direction and other times when it goes way beyond the elements of it. When it is compared to other tattoo magazines that are higher quality and better known Twisted is lower to them. They have around the same information and same purpose to the viewer.
If there was a chance after reading this paper/blog and you are thinking about subscribing to the article I want to you to think about these points. Are you looking for a magazine that is mainly about tattoos? If so then I would pick a better known magazine. Are you looking for a magazine that is a medium grade magazine that talks about less known artist but ones that are one the rise to becoming big? Then this magazine is one that you would like. If you don’t mind skipping off pages of articles and not worrying about them on the page of article, then you might like this magazine. I personally love the lower class of this magazine and knowing that they are built from the ground up and not really that old. I love the color, designs, articles, and the types that this magazine has. They are not afraid to go far beyond what they need to get their point across. Making it a good magazine.

Just researched "Graphic Design Art"

I like to see all the different works that people create. But for me I love color and the different things that you can do with color. But when a picture is just black and white and a few shades of gray I know that something was created very well and is very appealing. It has to do with all my taste. They are both so detailed and graceful that it keeps your eyes with it. Black and white can be so easy to make an image with it but to create a picture with it is amazing.

Simple vs Detailed

Since we are doing a poster that is to be simple, I thought that I would compare two different drawings and see which one is liked the most. Personally I like the detail but most companies would like something simple.
Most of the graphic design art work is simple and to the point. It does get your eye and keeps you entertained but only for so long. But with something so detailed you can get lost in the work and be there for a long time but you might not remember it as much as a simple design.

Presents

For my Boyfriend's birthday I wanted to get him something that he could continue to use or look at for a bit. I did the same with my Fathers Christmas present. I decided magazines would be the best choice for them. It will enhance their knowledge on the subject that I am gifting them with. Now these magazines (well all magazines) go hand in hand with graphic design. This is because of the type, the pictures, the graphics, and on and on. With both of the magazines they are using many different types and sizes. the bigger the type and/or the brightness the more you know which one is more important. The colors of the back ground and the bike on the one magazine play very nice together.

Favorite painter

We did Graphic Designer presentations and it made me want to share my favorite painter and the person that influenced me into art and the type of painting that I love to do. Her name is Georgia O'Keeffe. Her flowers are just so beautiful with so many colors to create one flower. It makes you realize there are so many colors in the world other then the basic colors.
I just love looking at her work and getting lost in the colors of the flowers and how up close they are.

Few more day

Coming this Wednesday I will be Flying to the Dominican Republic. I do not care for flying all that much but this is my sisters wedding and I kinda have to be there, since I am in the wedding. I can't wait to be in the sun. With the weather up here being cold I want to be able to be warm for once. This is not much of a design but these pictures are the main pictures of Punta Cana. You see these all over the websites.
I will final get to relax. Something that I do not get to do much often. Time off from work and school. But once I come back I will have tons of work that I will have to complete. At least I will have a little bit of time to myself.

Movie time

One of my favorite movies has a type of design that can be so simple and complicated. But in this case it is very simple. The type of design is called Suprematism. This is mentioned in This is when there are shapes that create a picture. It does not necessarily have to be of something but it needs to be eye appealing to make it work. The piece is the movie poster for Kill Bill. It is very simple but it gets your eye because of the bright yellow and the very thick black line.

Always been there

Every day I look on my laptop and didn’t realize that one of my icons on my desktop is actually something that we are going to be studying. In chapter 15, there is a type of design that is called tectonic. Is when a logo, icon, or image is together but not really connected together; like there is a break in between. It is almost like the plates of the earth; together but not really. This image is the Google chrome image. I get to see it everyday. As you can see that the image has the grey space in between the bright colors. It makes it look separated but yet it does look all together as a whole.

Long off but....

Ok I know Christmas is way off but in my famiy and with my boyfriend I have to plan ahead and buy little at a time so that everyone will get a gift.
In chapter 14 Zigzag lines come into play.
Now it is the easiest thing to create during the holidays to create and it is the CHRISTMAS TREE. But in the long run it looks really nice and it is to the point. Now we ALL know when September hits Halloween stuff is out for about a week before Christmas stuff is out. Pretty Crazy if I say so myself. But we something like this at ever Christmas tree farm or shop. It is just the symbol for the tree of that Holiday

New Art Book

My boyfriend took me to Michaels the other day to get some illustration board for a class assignment that was coming up. When we were walking around looking at the different art supplies, we came across a book about painting flowers with acrylic paint (which is what I love to do). Well he bought it for me so I could advance my art work and make it look real good. Well when I was flipping through the art book I came across an analogous colors. Which are opposite colors to create contrast. Which we know as a color wheel. Since we are now on chapter 12 I thought it was the perfect time to put one up. This is the most helpful thing to have or known when making a painting or anything with art. Helps you decide which colors can help darken or maybe lighten. Like for example to darken maybe a green leaf to put in some shading or vains you would use red which is right across from the green. That works with all of the colors on the wheel. I know this art book is going to be very helpful and can not wait to put it to use! Just found it funny that I was reading about analogous colors and there was the wheel in the book =)

Art Nouveau

Since we are going to do an poster or Calendar on Art Nouveau, I was looking online to get some ideas. I came across these to pictures and fell in love with them. Just the grace that these two women have and  the flowing line of the dress or the hair was just amazing. The first one the hair curl is what gets your eye at first. The second one I just love the color and how the artist made the dress wrap around and curve.

When I go to airport

When I go to the airport I will be seeing these every where except for the sleeping one. Haha so wish those airports did have beds with the wait that you sometimes have to do. But you can see these anywhere. But what caught my attention with this one is the sleeping one with the ? air bubble haha. it seems like they do not know what is going on. I know it might mean what they maybe thinking when sleeping (dreams) but I thought of that when I saw that.

These were talked in about in Chapter 16. They are call isotypes. isotypes are like picture language. it discribes what is needed or what is being done.

There are quit a few funny ones out there go ahead and look. some you are like really don't people already know this haha. (i tried to add another one but can't seem to be able to do it)

Found in Newspaper

I was ready an online newspaper and I came across this and found it really cool how you can create someones face with words!!!! these whole thing was created with words to creat President Obama's face. so cool. The detail and how the use of no letters to creat the contours of his face is outstanding

This applies with Chapter 19! and it is considered a typogram; which is a brieft and visual typographic poem or saying.

My Jobs Logo

Now I been working for Modern Mushroom Farms since Feburary, I believe. Their logo is very eye appealing and since I am in this Graphic Design History Class and one of our assignments are to put images up that get our attention, I thought this one would be perfect. I really like this because for one I work there but also the blue gets my eyes and the coloration of the mushrooms (not being perfectly white) and also how the words are wrapped around the picture of the mushrroms

I believe the style involved with this would be related to corporate identity and visual systems of Chapter 20. It is simple and to the point and it shows the name of the company along with a picture of what the company is based around (even though it says it in the name). I did not get a chance to ask about the image. I need to do that some time this next week and update you guys further. But I know that they have older looking logos that they have developed over time to create this one. I get to look at one of them every day I am at work out side my window.

I love my job. Maybe I can improve their design =)
